Arizona Federal Court
The United States District Court for the District of Arizona, established on June 20, 1910, handles cases in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Yuma, and Prescott. Upon becoming a judicial district, Arizona was assigned one judge and included in the Ninth Circuit, effective upon its statehood on February 14, 1912. Since January 8, 2011, the district has faced a vacancy due to the assassination of Chief Judge John McCarthy Roll during the Tucson massacre.
