American Board of Trial Advocates

Founded in 1958, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) comprises over 7,300 experienced lawyers and judges across 95 chapters in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Dedicated to preserving the Seventh Amendment’s right to civil jury trials, ABOTA promotes ethical and technical litigation standards. Membership is by invitation, requiring substantial civil trial experience and professionalism. ABOTA champions diversity, judicial independence, and education through local chapter activities and the ABOTA Foundation, which works to sustain the civil justice system and protect future generations’ jury trial rights.
